The Good Life - Album Of The Year

A few years ago, a little band called Cursive started gaining all sorts of popularity. Their songs were well crafted and edgy, not to mention the fact that they made use of a cello as well. They were just a notch under Bright Eyes on the Saddle Creek roster and "The Ugly Organ" was given every bit of love and adoration that it deserved. Not too many people know, though, that Cursive singer-songwriter Tim Kasher had another band, and that Cursive was originally a side-project. Kasher's original band was/is The Good Life.

Folk/alt-country in nature, The Good Life is Tim Kasher's baby, while Cursive was an outlet. Using accordions and acoustic guitars, slide and Fender Rhodes, "Album Of The Year" is great. Similar to Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst's lyrical style, Kasher has an ability to be incredibly tongue-in-cheek one moment, and surprisingly sincere the next. A great addition to Saddle Creek's catalog, and to your itunes. Download.
