Coheed & Cambria is one of the bands that were catapulted to superstardom around the time that I was graduating high school. The same time that bands like Dashboard Confessional and Taking Back Sunday were signing major record deals, Coheed & Cambria was there as well, signing with Columbia and shifting away from their "emo-core" sound and toward a more classic rock feel. Always likened to bands like Rush [due to singer Claudio Sanchez's vocals], Coheed & Cambria has created an incredibly diverse and progressive sound. Not only that, but through the 4 studio albums they have written and recorded, they have told a concept story called The Amory Wars. The story has an accompanying comic book series, as well as a solo record written and performed by Claudio Sanchez.
To be completely honest, the only reason that I even listened to this record was to see how bad it was going to be. I was sorely disappointed by their previous [and major label debut] and had such low expectations for this newest disc. Much to my surprise, though, it was good. Not only that, but it was easily their best to date.
As it stands, "No World For Tomorrow" is the end of The Amory Wars saga, but that does not spell the end for Coheed & Cambria. They have plans of continuing to tour and write new records, though the songs will no longer be about the characters that the band is named after.
