There is but one word that can accurately and without bias describe Minnesota septet Cloud Cult, and that word is "creative". With elements of indie, pop, baroque, and straight-up experimental music interwoven into catchy songs, Cloud Cult is a force to be reckoned with. Sing-along must be Cloud Cult's middle name. It is far too difficult to not sing along with "everybody here is a cloud/everybody here will evaporate this".

Not only are the songs interesting, but the production methods are equal in size and stature. Suffice it to say, that aside from Alvin and his brothers, chipmunk vocals are nearly unseen. But, to simply focus on the "experimental" and "weird" side of Cloud Cult would be an injustice, because the truth of the matter is that they craft ingeniously infectious songs with soaring melodies, including bells, strings, and as many unconventional instruments as they can get their hands on.

Don't be afraid of Cloud Cult. They may be weird, but they are at least more accessible than Animal Collective.
